  • Solving the Puzzle of the Cosmochronometer 92Nb: To extract reaction rates relevant for the 92Nb: Conducted and analyzed the 90Zr(4He,d+γ)92Nb reaction at OSL; Upcoming measurement of 92Zr(3He,t+γ)92Nb scheduled at RCNP, Japan.
  • Development of the CE-Oslo Method: Leading the development of the Charge-Exchange Oslo (CE-Oslo) method for the first time to extract reaction rates from existing charge-exchange data on 46Ti, 59Co, 88Sr, 93Zr(t,3He+γ)46Sc, 59Fe, 88Rb, and 93Zr.
  • Gamow-Teller Strength Analysis: Investigating the Gamow-Teller strength from 208Pb to 208Bi using charge-exchange data for the first time using the 208Pb(3He,t)208Bi reaction.
  • Detector Development at FRIB: Contributing to the upgrade of the Low Energy Neutron Detector Array (LENDA) at FRIB through testing and evaluation of novel scintillator materials for enhanced neutron detection.

Visiting Scientist

University of Oslo
04.2025 - 07.2025
  • Solving the Puzzle of the Cosmochronometer 92Nb: Performed and analyzed 90Zr(4He,d+γ)92Nb experimental data relevant to my Ph.D. thesis. Extracted reaction rates associated with 92Nb production using the Oslo Method.

Undergraduate Research Assistant

University of Peradeniya
07.2019 - 06.2021
  • Construction of Ionization Chamber: The main objective of the undergraduate research project was to construct a portable ionization chamber that can be used in the laboratory to identify ionization particles separately. A cylindrical ionization chamber was constructed using aluminum, and a differential amplifier with four Darlington transistors was used to amplify the low ionization current. The particles were identified through graphical analysis using the relevant output voltages processed by an ARDUINO Uno microcontroller.
  • Electromagnetic and Hadronic Calorimeters: A self-directed study on the fundamental principles, historical background, and recent advancements in electromagnetic and hadronic calorimeters used in various particle detectors worldwide. The written report and oral presentation were awarded during the undergraduate seminar Series–2020, evaluated by a panel of physicists from the Department of Physics, University of Peradeniya.

Junior Research Assistant

National Institute of Fundamental Studies (NIFS)
05.2016 - 09.2016
  • Quantum Physics: Employed as a Volunteer in Quantum Physics Project which engaged in investigating fundamental aspects of Quantum to Classical transition, Quantum Chaos, Quantum Computing and Quantum non-locality.
  • Applied Electronics: Employed as a Volunteer in Applied Electronics Project which engaged in identification of new mental activities that can be utilized in Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) systems as well as designing and construction of low cost hardware and software for BCI to be used in Sri Lanka.
