- Collected cadaveric bulbi oculi and established (multipotent mesenchymal stromal) cell (MSC) lines from the cornea and retina from over 25 patients, while mentoring junior researchers.
- Developed and optimized a new organ culture model to showcase possibilities for implantation of cellular material in the cornea.
- Established and maintained collaborations (Europe) and presented research findings at several European and North American conferences.
- Set up and optimized laboratory methodology to better characterize and analyze cell lines, including fluorescence- activated cell sorting (FACS), immunohistochemistry (cryopreservation, cryosectioning) and reverse transcriptase quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR), among others.
- Participated in a multi-center (Germany, Czechia, Norway) collaboration project, where human retina- derived cell lines were implanted into an animal model (pig). Research articles published.
- Participated in a multi-group collaboration study (within Oslo University Hospital), where MSCs were 3D bio-printed using an extrusion- based method and implanted into an animal organ culture model using state-of-the-art femtosecond laser-assisted intrastromal keratoplasty.
