Work History

Research Engineer

Oslo University Hospital, Rikshospitalet
12.2023 - Current
  • Whole genome sequenced native, double stranded DNA obtained from glioblastoma samples to uncover rare changes genetic variations using Oxford Nanopore Technologies (P24 platform, 24 samples so far).
  • Optimized extraction and preparation process of DNA, while simultaneously helped the research group reach an important deadline by speeding up sample preparation/ data acquisition.

Research Engineer

Oslo University Hospital, Rikshospitalet
04.2021 - 12.2022
  • Registered and bio-banked tumors of the central nervous and established cancer stem cell cultures from over 160 samples.
  • Dissociated/ extracted tumor cells from samples collected from surgeries and cultured them, while mentoring junior engineers, providing guidance.
  • Sequenced native, double stranded DNA obtained from glioblastoma samples to uncover epigenetic variation (MGMT gene methylation over 50 samples, CpG island methylation mappingover 25 samples) using Oxford Nanopore Technologies (Mk1b, Mk1C platforms). Set up Cas9- based MGMT methylation assay in the laboratory. Research article on the topic is under publication.
  • Cultured cancer stem cells and produced cell-derived components in a GMP facility, classified clean room, as part of a clinical study (15 samples). Increased sample involvement turnover. (DEN-STEM study: https://oslo-universitetssykehus.no/kliniske-studier/glioblastomstandardbehandling-mot-standardbehandling-med-immunterapi-den-stem)
  • Drug screened acute myeloid leukemia samples using a microplate-based system (2 samples).

Postdoctoral Researcher

Oslo University Hospital, Ullevål Hospital
11.2017 - 01.2021
  • Collected cadaveric bulbi oculi and established (multipotent mesenchymal stromal) cell (MSC) lines from the cornea and retina from over 25 patients, while mentoring junior researchers.
  • Developed and optimized a new organ culture model to showcase possibilities for implantation of cellular material in the cornea.
  • Established and maintained collaborations (Europe) and presented research findings at several European and North American conferences.
  • Set up and optimized laboratory methodology to better characterize and analyze cell lines, including fluorescence- activated cell sorting (FACS), immunohistochemistry (cryopreservation, cryosectioning) and reverse transcriptase quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR), among others.
  • Participated in a multi-center (Germany, Czechia, Norway) collaboration project, where human retina- derived cell lines were implanted into an animal model (pig). Research articles published.
  • Participated in a multi-group collaboration study (within Oslo University Hospital), where MSCs were 3D bio-printed using an extrusion- based method and implanted into an animal organ culture model using state-of-the-art femtosecond laser-assisted intrastromal keratoplasty.

Junior Research Fellow

Oslo University Hospital, Ullevål Hospital
10.2016 - 11.2017
  • Collected cadaveric bulbi oculi and established (multipotent mesenchymal stromal) cell (MSC) lines from the cornea and retina from over 25 patients.
